Child Rights Coalition Asia (CRC Asia), World Vision International (WVI), and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) invite colleagues from different human rights organizations and organizations of professionals providing services related to CRVS to the Regional Forum of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) in Asia and the Pacific on 20 October 2021, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (GMT+8).
CSOs are important development partners in making CRVS systems work for the people and much of their work are helpful inputs in the improvement of CRVS systems. However, there is a need to involve more CSOs to ensure that all sectors and communities are included in this work. In preparation for the 2nd Ministerial Conference on CRVS (2nd MCCRVS) in Asia and the Pacific in November 2021, the Forum will provide a space for CSOs to (1) discuss the importance of CRVS in advancing the rights of different sectors and communities we work with, (2) identify opportunities for CSOs to ensure that hard-to-reach and marginalized populations are counted in the programming, implementation, and monitoring of public services, and (3) develop their joint statement for presentation at the 2nd MCCRVS.
At the 2nd MCCRVS, governments in the region will review the progress towards the achievement of the goals of the Regional Action Framework on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific (RAF). The RAF facilitates collaborative action by enabling different stakeholders, including CSOs, to reach the goals and targets set for the Asian and Pacific CRVS Decade (2015-2024).
To help us prepare for the Forum, kindly fill out the registration link here on or before October 13, 2021. Information about the log-in details to the Zoom session will be shared in a separate communication.
