CRC Asia Strategic Planning Workshop 2019

CRC Asia Strategic Planning Workshop. April 3-5, 2019, Bangkok, Thailand

CRC Asia members collectively revisited the Coalition strategic plans for 2017-2021 on three core programs – child rights governance, child protection, child participation – and crosscutting themes.

During the three-day workshop, the members had the opportunity to look back on the progress of CRC Asia’s work from 2015-2019 and identified challenges and lessons learned. Taking off from the presentation on the child rights situational analysis prepared by the Secretariat, the participants determined challenges and opportunities in their respective countries, did a mapping of their country-level work vis-à-vis the Coalition core programs, and developed a context analyses of civil society in Asia. These, together with the results of the children’s online survey (children’s inputs to CRC Asia’s strategic plans) as the springboard for the group workshops towards bringing the Coalition strategic plans responsive and up-to-date.

Some key strategic planning reflections, posed as guide questions for all the members and partners were: “How do we break away from business-as-usual?” And “how do these plans impact the daily lives of children?”

Of the total 20 participants who actively participated in the workshop, 12 were CRC Asia Member Organizations from Hongkong, Philippines, Nepal, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Four (4) were CRC Asia partners from Plan International Asia, Plan International Sweden, and Save the Children Philippines, and four (4) were from the CRC Asia Secretariat.
