CRC Asia, in partnership with Katilingban sa Kalambuan Inc. (KKI), conducted a consultation through Creative Laboratory methodology with children about their experiences of justice and access to justice in Zamboanga City in February, as part of the 5-SCALE Project on Children’s Access to Justice. The Creative Laboratory was a structured, participatory process that is trauma-informed.
The children named two priorities in the consultation: long delays with little information about their cases, and court processes that feel frightening and intimidating.
To carry their messages to decision-makers, the children chose to create comics and an animated video. They stayed involved after the workshop, joining five online sessions to finalize the script, record the voice-overs, and approve the final outputs.

The project is led by the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures at the University of Strathclyde, with support from the University of Edinburgh, Justice CoLab, and the Global Working Group on SDG16+ Justice for Children. It is funded by the Legal Empowerment Fund, hosted at the Fund for Global Human Rights.
