CRC Asia’s application for a consultative relationship with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) has been approved.
AICHR is one of the human rights mechanisms of the ASEAN. Compared to ACWC which is focused on women and children, AICHR is mandated to cover all human rights issues. Given that AICHR is also tackling children’s rights, CRC Asia recognizes the benefits of engaging with AICHR.

Having this consultative relationship means that CRC Asia will have access to AICHR’s draft agenda that are open for CSO consultation. CRC Asia will also be invited to attend AICHR’s CSO-related activities such as consultations, seminars, workshops, and briefings. Additionally, AICHR can tap CRC Asia to prepare studies or implement projects.
CRC Asia is looking forward to taking advantage of this development to strengthen its advocacy work in the region.
